Glen Huntly Commonwealth Games

On Monday, 23 April the Sport Captains held St Anthony’s Commonwealth Games day for all year levels. 

The students dressed up in their assigned colours of countries:

  • Nagle (yellow) team wore green and yellow and represented Australia
  • Padua (red) team dressed wore red and white and represented England
  • Sienna (blue) team wore blue and orange and represented South Africa
  • Xavier (green) team wore green and represented India

From 11:40 to 12:20 the junior students participated in 4 different activities that the sport captains organized. The juniors played many sports including hurdles, egg and spoon race, three legged races, sack races, follow the leader and obstacle course.

The Sport Captains gave an award to the best dressed in each Junior team. Angus, Yumo, Josh and Lola received the Junior Awards.

The seniors played sport from 12:25 to 1:25 including soccer, European handball, tennis, 800m run, discus, shot put, triple jump and long jump.

The senior students who were awarded best dressed were Daisy, Violet, Jack H and Georgia.

At the end of the day we had a closing ceremony with the Sport Captains at the front of the march. It was a great day and everyone enjoyed it. We thought everyone was well behaved. All Sport Captains wish to have many more of these days further in the year.
